After the Gamble

A Poem

All this and only for a towel,
to wipe the blood off your hands and face.
All this to go out there and keep your
golden smile, make a grand speech and wave
to the maggots in your brain
keeping you alive.

Out of the shower house to toil
with the trickling of the opposite boots.
All this just because he asked for your hand,
for your leadership, for your light for them,
the ones who always applaud you,
keeping you high

All this and out of the box.
Now home to kill all the maidens who worked
from morning until night to please you
only to be poisoned slowly behind the curtains
in front of the window for the
amusement as tv.

Holding high hopes for you tomorrow
as you sit in your high chair and gather
all the cards in your hands for another gamble,
to play your final game, then you will be gone.
Hopefully.
